Bennett

Last Saturday was MC's Jr prom. Benny and most of the boys in his group decided to wear white tuxedos, vans, and huge eyeglasses. I think they all look great! This year the dance was held at the Willow Woods Conference Center. Parents are always invited to come to the Jr prom and watch their kids be introduced, then walk the runway with their date. Only the junior class kids are allowed to do this. My personal opinion..... there was not nearly enough room! It was hotter than blazes in there and the stage was tiny. It was almost impossible to hear the announcer, in fact, because of that, I missed Bennett and Cassidys promenade! Im so sad about that! However it was fun to see all the kids having a blast....and wow, there were alot of beautiful prom dresses! When we were leaving the parking terrace we saw that Benny and Kye had each taken two parking spaces to protect their dads cars. We thought that was awesome! Cute boys!

Race Two

Yesterday my sister and daugther ran in their second half marathon. This one was much closer to home held at Thanksgiving Point. It wasnt as much fun as the Vegas one.. however it was nice to be close to home. It was a little chilly at 7:00 a.m. in the morning, but it didnt take long to warm up. The way this race was set up, I was able to follow them from about the half-way point. When Alison ran past she told me she hated running, and when Becky ran past in the picture by the bridge she told me she felt like she was going to vomit. All I can say is, I was happy to be in the car and not running with them! I would run a 5k, but I have no interest in running a half marathon. After the race was over, we bumped into my cousin Kevin and his daughter Olivia, who also ran in the race. Actually, Kevin ran right past my sister and didnt know it until she called out to him! That was kind of a fun surprise for them! Im proud of both of those girls. My sister got third in her age group (got a trophy), and we think Alison was fifth in hers. Today, they are sore and blistered, yet theyre starting to make plans for another race! Im ok with that, as long as its them and not me!

Thoughts about living life

I found this article that I really liked and wanted to share. Enjoy!

Because there is a big difference between living and merely extisting....

Educate yourself until the day you die. - The time and energy you invest in your education will change your life. You are a product of what you know. The more knowledge you aquire, the more control you have over your life.
Take good care of your body. - Your body is the greatest tool you'll ever own. Nourish it, exercise it, and rest it.
Spend as much time as possible with the people you love. - Human beings are emotional creatures. Family and friends make up the core of your emotional support system. The more you nurture them, the more they will nurture you.
Be a part of something you believe in. - This could be anything. Some people take an active role in their city council, some find refuge in religious faith, some join social clubs supporting causes they believe in, and others find passion in their careers. In each case the physchological outcome is the same. When they strongly engage themselves in something they believe in, it brings happiness and meaning into their lives.
Excel at what you do.- Theres no point in doing something if youre not going to do it right. Excel at your work and excel at your hobbies.
Live below your means. - Live a comfortable life, not a wasteful one. Manage your money wisely so your money doesnt manage you. Always live well below your means.
Be self sufficient. - Freedom is the greatest gift. Self-sufficiency is the the greatest freedom.
Build a comfortable, loving household. - Home is where the heart is. Your home should be comfortable and lined with love.
Always be honest with yourself and others. - Living a life of honesty creates peace of mind, and peace of mind is priceless.
Mix it up. Try different things. - Seek new life experiences. After all, your lifes story is simply a string of experiences. The more experiences you have the more interesting your story gets.
Take full ownership of your actions. - Either own up to your actions or your actions will ultimately own you.
Listen more. Talk less. - The more you listen and the less you talk, the more you will learn and the less you will miss.
Be here now. - Right now is the only moment guaranteed to you. Right now is life. Don't miss it.

Glitter toes

Once a month Ali and I go to either my niece or my sisters house to a glitter toes party. Glitter toes are like gel nails kinda, only on the toes of course! We like them because they never chip, fade or peel off, and they are super glittery! Kathrin our glitter toes woman is Jessica's (my niece) BFF. Shes a really sweet girl and does a good job. They always have a fun group of people there and we have a great time! This month we all went to lunch, (mid toes), at a tasty Mexican restaurant which was fun too. I never think to take my camera, but next time I will for sure so I can take a few pictures of our toes to show all the different colors there are! We all have quite a variety of tastes. The picture I posted of toes is just a random picture I found online and really doesn't show how glittery they are. When I take my own and post them they will be better...I think? :) So anyhow... yes, I'm a mid-lifer wearing glitter toes! So what! I dont care, heck Ive gotta sparkle somewhere right?! =)

Easter Tradition

This is a quiet Easter for us. With Nick in Peru and Alison working, we decided to just chill at home instead of rolling eggs down the Aggie hill. This is a family tradition that both Bret and I have done since we were kids. We dye tons of eggs, meet with my siblings and their families at the top of the hill and have a great time watching the kids young and old chase the eggs down the hill! Of course, if any adult dares to chase an egg, they became a target for all the rest of us! We throw our eggs hard and fast hoping to be the one that is successful in hitting them! Yes it hurts if you get hit, and paybacks are NOT pleasant! :) We all usually end up going home with remnants of easter eggs on us! I'm kind of sad missing out this year, however, the weather is not great and with half my family away, its ok to skip the egg rolling until next year.

Happy April Fools Day!

One year for April Fools Day, I waited till everyone in my family was asleep in bed and then painted all my boys toenails red! I swear, I have NEVER laughed so hard all by myself! I had to keep burying my face into the bed so they wouldnt hear me laughing while I was painting! I got them good...none of them felt or heard me. In the morning my husband was the first to discover his lovely red toenails while in the shower. I was in bed and he called out, "real funny"! Ha ha ha! Then when Bryce came upstairs Bret said to him,"looks like she got you too"! Ha ha ha, it was great. My little boys were mad, and Benny even cried. He wanted it off! Anyway, it was fun for me!
