Steps towards goals!

Two more days and month three is done! My goal was to be down 30 lbs by now... I lost control this month, ate tons of crap and didn't lose a pound, so I'm dreading reporting to the chub club! AHHHH! I did continue to walk/run at least three times a week however and that has saved me from gaining all the weight back. This morning I went to Hyrum and tried out Curves, the "women only" gym. I don't know what I think about it though...not sure it worked me out enough???? I also walked/ran today, so I feel pretty good about that. I'm finding more and more just how important exercise is for my mental health. Its a constant battle trying to lose weight...I just hate it so much! On the positive side.....at least I am healthy enough to even be able to workout. I'm very grateful for that blessing. With that said, I have another goal. I just started saving money for a camera......I'm going to follow one of my dreams. :) I want the Nikon D90. They say it takes fabulous pics, plus a bonus, it takes videos. It's not cheap! I have no experience with SLR cameras, but I've wanted to take a photography class and learn how to take great shots for years, so ....that will be a great excuse! Goals are tough to stick to, but I'm not giving up! Lao Tzu, a Chinese philosopher, said, "The journey begins with a single step." I'm taking steps.... so Good luck to me!

Ordinations

Today Bennett was ordained a Priest. He asked Nick a few weeks ago if he would ordain him, and Nick said he would. I think its really cool....and I'm very very proud of both of them! An issue I have with my stupid depression is forgetfulness....I HATE it! I'm saying that now because not until we were in the Bishops office did I realize that I forgot to invite Bryce and Amber, plus, Alison is out of town so she missed it too! I swear, I am so lame!! I did the same thing when Nick was ordained an Elder...didn't even think to invite Bryce and Amber or grandparents or anything till we were in the room ready to do it! That one made me cry. Nick did a great job. He gave a beautiful blessing, very touching , very sweet. I'm so proud of him! While Ive been writing I let Helga out and forgot about her for a little too long! She found something dead to roll in and stinks to high heaven!!! Wow! Bret Is giving her a bath right now! Its gloomy weather outside, so we may end up playing games or napping after dinner today. Last week we porch monkeyed in the warm sun all day long! Either way, as long as I'm with my family its good and I'm happy.

Never safe!

I live with a bunch of smartalicks! One day when I returned from grocery shopping I backed into the driveway for easier unloading. Then, Alison came home, decided to back in as well, then Bryce, then Nick, and finally when Bret came home from work, he backed up to the side of the house. They all thought they were so funny and got their jollies out of it! No one said anything to anyone about it, they all just quietly did it, one after another! I'm sure everyone driving by wondered what kind of weirdos live here! I had to take pictures of course because it was so sickening. :) Also, when Bryce tiled our bathroom, he and Bret decided to donate our toilet to the Calls as a porch ornament complete with flowers! Of course, I had to document that with photos as well! The toilet sat there for two days before they even noticed! It was funny! They knew it was us, we couldn't fool them! It gets crazy around here alot of the time. We have a thing we do called "The Sucker". The idea is to try to sucker someone into believing something stupid, or fake them into correcting something you say. But, you never , ever, ever, want to be suckered! Another thing you never want to get caught doing is miss pronouncing or using a word incorrectly, because you will NEVER live it down!! Example: Kramer came over one day and said " my grandpa is really spree for an old guy! Immediately Ali and I started laughing and mocking him ..." so did you mean your grandpa is spry for an old guy?" Ha ha ha...so.... often since that time ...which was well over a year ago...we say, "Hey kramer, are you feeling spree today?"..or, " gosh Ali, I'm sure feeling spree today , how about you?" Lol! We get a kick out of the dumbest things! Bryce is the king of the sucker game. He got Bret years ago and it will go down in Rigby history as the best sucker ever , but that story will have to be another post sometime. So, beware, watch what you do and say when you are around us because no one is ever safe around my family!

Bassackwards!

The lovely planter we donated to our neighbors!

Fun Day!

On Easter we had a picnic at the park by Bryces house before the Easter egg roll. The boys played basketball and the girls held Ambers new bunnies. Nick had to leave early to catch a plane to Washington, so Bret took him home to catch his ride to SLC with Luke. While they were gone we decided to have races going through the jungle gym one at a time. I even raced! It was so stupid, but we had a ball! Benny won with a time of 56 seconds. Amber was second with a time of 1 minute five seconds, Bryce third with 1 minute 10 seconds, Ali with one minute 15 seconds and me with one minute 25 seconds...I had a 5 second penalty for skipping the monkey bars. Ha ha...I couldnt pack this fat body across them! Still,... not bad for an old lady! It looks alot easier than it is, and wow, what a workout! We were each huffing and puffing after our turn! I posted alot of pictures of the whole day, but most of them went into the older post section so check them out! We had a great day.

Easter Egg Roll!

As I said in my last blog, as far back as I can remember, we have rolled Easter eggs down Aggie hill on Easter Sunday. Bret had the same tradition in his family, so when we got married we never skipped a beat and kept the tradition going. We always go with the Oldhams, and this year Jonathan and Kristin came as well. All of the additions to our families love this crazy tradition and that includes Kramer and Brie. We had ball this year and there were tons of us! Bryce asked me if we were the "redneck" families because we had 7 dogs and 6 babies and such a huge group of us there! Lol! Yes, it was gross with all of those dogs! We think maybe next year we might try to get together to dye our eggs. The little kids chasing the eggs are hilarious and there are egg fights and all kinds of funny things going on all the time! Here are a few pictures, they're small but Brie sent them to me and I cant change the size for some reason.

50Th!

Wednesday was Brets 50Th birthday! I can't believe it! Ew....I'm married to a 50 year old man! Ha ha ha....oh my! It's so amazing how fast time goes. We have known each other since I was eight years old and he was ten. I remember going to my brothers baseball games and thinking how cute the Rigby twins were. As I got older, like ten, :) we were in the same stake and every year they held a huge barbecue at the fairgrounds under the pavilion. I loved to go just to look at the twins! Then, I went to Brets cousins birthday party and he and Bart were there, and I developed a full blown crush on him (not Bart)! He had one on me too,(according to his cousin,)but then school started and that was the end of that! Then, as a sophomore, he asked me to the Homecoming dance, and the rest is history! Bret is a fabulous husband, father and friend. He is honest, dependable , generous, kind, full of integrity, a hard worker and of course very handsome! Im crazy about him! The kids and I are so lucky to have him! We went to Mandarin to dinner for his birthday and then had his favorite strawberry shortcake for dessert. I wanted to take him on a short trip somewhere but he wants to wait and combine it with a last trip before Nick leaves. April is a crazy month for us with birthdays- Bret the 8th , Nick the 11th, Benny the 13th, and Easter all right together. It gets expensive! Tomorrow we will dye a ton of eggs for our annual egg roll down the Aggie hill on Easter with the Oldhams. It's so dumb, but we always have a blast! Even Kramer and Brie, who both laughed and thought we were weirdos when we took them with us their first time love it, and are looking forward to it this year! Family traditions are important to me. I hope my kids will keep them going. Well, it's Friday night and I have a hot date, so I gotta get ready. Off to Pei Wei and Costco! YESSSS!!! Lettuce wraps and shopping! Lol! That's what we do!

The White Robin And Crazy Clouds!

Bret knows that I love clouds, and one morning came running back into the house for his camera telling me to hurry out and see this "cool " cloud. So, check it out! It looks like corkscrew pasta! The sad thing is, it was tighter but faded so quickly we were lucky to even get a photo of it at all!

For the past three years this "albino robin" has lived in our backyard and pasture area. Previous to this, I had no idea that robins return to the same roosts year after year. We all get really excited at the first sighting, and watch and comment on that unique bird all summer long! My kids have shared the story and pictures of it in science class at school too. We've tried to get better pictures of it, but it never comes close enough. It really is a robin with a red breast. So far, we haven't seen it this year. I hope it passes on its white genes before it dies! I know this is a random post, but, it's a little peek into me and my life.
I love where I live.... I'm grateful for simple crazy clouds and white birds!

April Fools!

Happy April fools Day ya'll! I hope you all got fooled at least once! Becky got me! She forwarded an email from Miles, (who got her first), telling her Jessica was in labor and they were on their way to the hospital, but, it was just an April fools joke! She got me so good! She had me going for awhile! It was a good one! So, I decided to share the joy! :) I fooled Alison and Emily! I let Emily think it was true for a few hours and replied to her texts when she asked how Jessica was doing and how was the baby doing etc. When I called her to tell her it was an April Fools joke I told her they were going to name him James April Fools Archuleta, and she didnt get it! LOl! She said," oh...thats kinda feminine isnt it?" I said yes, but since hes going to be on born on , "APRIL FOOLS DAY.".. I guess they thought it would be cool. She still didnt get it...and said, " Oh well, in that case I guess its ok..." Ha ha ha! So I said again, yeah, since it is "APRIL FOOLS DAY"...its ok...., she still didnt get it! So finally I asked her what today is, and she said "the first of April," and I said yes...and WHAT DAY IS IT? Hahaha and she FINALLY said " Ohhhhh....so they really arent going to name him that then!" She STILL didnt get it! Lol! So, I finally had to tell her outright that Jessica wasnt having her baby today at all! It was great! Becky had come out here with mom and dad and so I put my phone on speaker, so we all heard the whole thing and got a good laugh out of it! Emily said, " EWWWWW you sickening aunts, you got me sooo good, EWWWW!" Hahaha! I wish I had it recorded! Thanks Miles for a good one!
